Before we start this project let me warn you that it is a messy business. You should have some rubber gloves, a couple of tubes of clear silicone caulking compound, (don’t get the odorless kind) some Xylene, (this is for cleanup so get a pint or so) a can of paste wax, a small bottle of glycerin, and some acrylic crafters paint.
You should be able to get glycerin at a pharmacy; you only need a little so get the smallest bottle you can.

Once a interior concrete floor surface has been beautifully enhanced by polishing, it is time to discuss how to maintain the lovely look on an ongoing basis.
- Sweep with a dust mop or vacuum across the whole area at least twice a week.
- Mop the floor with a light detergent (like Dawn) at a ratio 1 cap full per gallon of water at least once a week.
- If a liquid is spilled on the floor (especially coffee, tea, wine or cola), it is best to clean up the spill as soon as possible with a clean cloth and water so the integrity of the surface is kept intact.

Although concrete may seem pretty tough, it actually is vulnerable to many environmental factors. People often overlook the fact that concrete is porous. And as with porous surfaces, moisture, stains, molds, and other environmental hazards can seep in, wrecking havoc on your beautiful concrete surfaces.
Your concrete is always vulnerable to water. These porous surfaces will allow moisture to loosen your vinyl tiles or ruin your carpet.

Insulating Concrete Forms, also known as ICF construction, is a concrete building system that offers superior strength, energy efficiency, durability and comfort compared to traditional construction methods. Although it has been predominantly used in the residential market during the past decade, commercial applications are rapidly increasing.
There are several other concrete home building systems, including masonry, reusable forms and pre-cast products. This article focuses on ICF technology and not on any specific manufacturer in the ICF industry.

Calculating the amount of concrete you require for your project can be a very confusing exercise.
Pre-mix concrete comes in 60 lb. and 80 lb. Bags. A 60 lb. bag provides 0.45 cubic feet of cured concrete and an 80 lb. bag provides 0.6 cubic feet of cured concrete.
If you have mixed concrete delivered, it is sold by the yard (which is a cubic yard = 27 cubic feet).

Because the installation of concrete paving stones is a complex and time consuming procedure many do it yourselfers do not invest in the effort to do the job right – the first time. Customization Increases Aesthetic Appeal and Real Estate Investment for Homeowners
From top-dollar homes in the San Francisco Bay Area to sprawling mountain homes in the Colorado Rockies, discriminating homeowners are demanding custom designs and finishes in their kitchens. In particular, they are looking to express their individuality and distinct design preferences with the fast-growing design material of choice — concrete.
In fact, concrete countertops have become somewhat of a
status symbol for kitchens, rivaling granite and other high-
end countertop surface options. Consumer Reports Magazine
(August 2004) ranked concrete highest for its “customization” and “exclusivity” among high-end kitchen countertops.
Decorative Concrete Techniques

Plain grey concrete is drab and has little if any aesthetic appeal. There are numerous techniques now available to enhance the appearance of a poured concrete slab. These processes can be used on any concrete slab around pools, patios, walkways, and driveways. It should be noted that with the possible exception of the exposed aggregate technique, all other decorative concrete techniques rely on a solid finished surface. If you have areas of concrete that are flaking, these areas should be repaired prior to adding the decorative finishes.
