Tankless water heaters have been popular in Europe and Asia for years. However, they are not very well accepted in North America until recent years.
Tankless heaters are about the size of a medicine cabinet. Electrical tankless heaters are normally installed indoor – mounted on the wall in bathroom for example; while gas powered tankless heaters are normally fixed outside of the house.
In general, here’s how tankless heater works:
When you turn on a hot water tap, cold water supply is directed to flow thru the heating unit. The pressure of the cold water running through the pipes turns on the heater (electrical or gas powered) and the water is warmed. When you turn off the tap, the heater shuts down until the next time you turn on a hot water tap.
